Debi Henninger will provide of lecture on Hobo Quilts and the history behind them.
Debra Henninger is a history and railroad enthusiast. She has published a book entitled Hobo
Quilts which has 55 original blocks based on the secret language of riding the rails. The stories
come from hobo lore from her great-great-grandmother who would feed hobos. Hobos were a
big part of American life from 1880s to 1940s and their means of travel was the railroad. Deb
also owns 3 quilt shops

Heidi Kaisand joined the staff of the Better Homes and Garden American Patchwork and Quilting
Magazine in 1993. In a few short years as editor that magazine was at the top of the quilting industry.
Since September of 2007 she joined the American Professional Quilting systems as a National Sales
Manager. So Heidi knows how to help people begin and end a quilt project.
Program: My Quilt Top is Done—Now What?---Heidi will provide us with 5 ways to turn those tops into
useable quilts. If you have a quilt top that is puzzling you as to what to do next bring it along to the
meeting. Heidi will select a few of them and give us her ideas on how to finish them.

Taking Care of Your Heirlooms by Robin Venter--Having an heirloom quilt can be a great
responsibility. While common sense usually prevails there are conservation measures that can be taken
so your quilt will be around for generations to come. Robin Venter, Exhibit Curator at the
Grout Museum, will discuss museum procedures and share tips for taking care of your quilts, from
cleaning to hanging and storing. She will have examples plus a few of her special quilts. Robin has
been with the Grout Museum District since 1992. She has curated more than 18 quilt exhibits in
addition to hundreds of other types of exhibits. She had been a quilter for over 30 years serving on the
boards for Iowa Quilters Guild and the founding board of the Keepsake Quilters.

Leanne Anderson from The Whole Country Caboodle from rural Nashua, Iowa will be sharing with us how she started her business in 1992. In 1994 she began designing fabric for Henry Glass. Along with her story she will present a trunk show.

Program: Virtual Sewing Room Tour by Chris Lorenz and Aleta Anderson In brainstorming about program ideas, we were wishing we all could visit each others' sewing rooms. Our idea for a virtual sewing room tour was born when we found out other guilds photo- graphed members sewing rooms. Not professional photographers we still had fun and appreciate the members who volunteered to open their home to us. Come and enjoy what we discovered behind closed doors.

Annual Meeting - Installation of Officers
There are eleven meetings a year held on the third Monday of each month, except for December. THe meeting night may be changed for special events. The meetings are held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4000 Hudson Rd, Cedar Falls, IA from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Member are encouraged to wear nametags to the meetings.
